Parent & Provider Consultation

Parent Consultation

Parenting challenges? Let’s create solutions together.

Parent consultation sessions provide a safe space for parents to talk about challenging behaviors and receive support and guidance from their therapist.

Parent consultation sessions provide parents with practical tools with “what to do” when you and your child/teen are struggling to communicate and cope with stressful situations that can include: depression, anxiety, grief/loss, separation and divorce, academic concerns and difficulties with social relationships.

Parent consultation sessions are focused on reducing parenting stress and supporting more moments of joy as a family along with self-care strategies for parents.

Parents/caregivers meet with the therapist to access support with parenting concerns and learn skills to help reduce parenting stress while their child/teen is receiving therapy services.

Parents/caregivers can meet with the therapist for parent consultation sessions as an initial service prior to starting therapy for their child/teen. Parents will be able to discuss their child/teen’s strengths/needs and current behaviors to learn and apply parenting tools they can use right away at home/community.

*This type of parent consultation can include a child observation in their school setting to obtain information about the child’s current strengths/needs and behaviors that can be addressed directly through parent coaching.

Provider Consultation

Looking for collaborative support in your work with children?

Provider consultations can include meetings with your child/teen’s medical professionals (doctor, specialists, physical therapist, speech therapist, occupational therapist) and educational providers (teacher, school administrator, IEP team).

Provider consultation meetings with your child’s outside providers can focus on helping address your child’s mental health needs as a team and support their progress with their therapy goals.

Provider consultation meetings can help empower parents to learn skills to coordinate their child’s mental health needs with multiple systems to ensure their child’s growth and resilience on a long-term basis.

Your therapist can participate in a meeting with an outside medical provider to help coordinate your child’s mental health services and use of therapy interventions in another setting (school, IEP meeting, multidisciplinary team meeting, medical provider).
