Play Therapy

Play Therapy

Is your child struggling with big feelings or life changes?

Play Therapy provides a safe space for children to process their big feelings and life experiences that might be affecting their behaviors.

Play Therapy can help your child understand their feelings better and strengthen their sense of self and build resilience in other aspects of their lives.

Play Therapy can help address issues around tantrums, sibling rivalry, divorce, sleep disturbance, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief/loss, school performance and social relationships.

You and your child will participate in several play-based assessment sessions with age-appropriate toys and activities. This will help the therapist get to know you and your child and how you interact with one another.

Parents/caregivers will complete questionnaires that provide information about your child’s development and their strengths and current behavioral needs. This helps guide the assessment process and the goals we will work on together in therapy sessions.

Play therapy sessions support your child choosing activities that support their self-expression through play with toys, board games, art, sand tray, music and movement and digital play therapy activities with an iPad.

The therapist provides support by acknowledging the child/youth’s experiences, models coping skills that are fun and tailored to their needs and shows unconditional support and care for their worth as a person.
